SRAS NEWS  / SUMMER RSL IN BATUMI, GEORGIA
15.06.2014

2

Spend this summer in the seaside city of Batumi, Georgia. Batumi is the capital of Adjara, an autonomous republic in southwest Georgia. While Batumi was built up as a port and commercial center, today it is primarily a center for tourism. Batumi served as a very popular tourist destination in the USSR and since independence considerable money has been invested in renovating the Old Town and building up the city’s tourist facilities. There is a long seaside boulevard that is great for strolling and biking. The beaches and subtropical climate draw tourists from many parts of the former-USSR, making Russian a lingua franca for the city, especially during the summer tourist season. This summer you can also enjoy the Batumi International Music Festival and the Black Sea Jazz Festival. And last, but by far not least, enjoy an entire summer of Georgian cuisine! Click here for more reasons to study in Batumi from an SRAS student that has been there!
