INTERNSHIP DESCRIPTION
Environmentalism in Modern Siberia

Available: Fall, Spring, Summer
Internship Goals: Provide an opportunity for students to work closely with and meet local Russians and other foreign students while helping to improve the environment and local economy.
Internship Tasks: Tasks may include of those below. Note that all writing will be performed in English, and translation will be performed only from Russian to English. Speaking tasks may be expected to be performed in either Russian or English. Tasks will be assigned depending, in part, on the intern's abilities (especially Russian language abilities) and professional goals and based on those tasks needed by the Great Baikal Trail Association at the time of the internship.
- Translations
- Writing news or articles for the GBT website or newsletters
- Writing project descriptions
- Working with children in GBT youth programs
- Development of existing and new environmental educational programs for local children
- Teaching English to Russian GBT volunteers and/or children from local schools
- Conduction of leadership training (and other optional trainings) to Russian GBT volunteers and/or children from local schools
- Hiking trails and making maps, descriptions, and comments
- Updating information on the website
- Assisting with fundraising and grant activities
- Working with the School of Tourism and Environment, Severobaikalsk in creating tourist information, trail guides, and other programs.
