NEWS  / RESEARCH FELLOW IN ENERGY POLITICS

Research Fellow in Energy Politics, NUPI

The position is initially for one year, but may be extended, pending funding. The new employee will be Research Fellow / Senior Research Fellow in energy politics Department of Russian and Eurasian Studies, Norwegian Institute of International Affairs (NUPI).

Candidates should satisfy the following criteria:

  • Excellent academic English writing skills
  • Strong competence on the post-Soviet area
  • Ability to cooperate and to help out other researchers
  • Flexibility and willingness to take on a broad range of tasks including low-level administrative support, and to work on new countries and topics, including non-energy topics
  • Knowledge of Russian
  • Background in political science, economics or other social science discipline or relevant humanities/area studies
  • Service minded
  • Possibility of starting work as soon as possible preferably July or August

In addition, the following points would be considered assets, but the new employee is not expected to satisfy all of them:

  • Published in high-level international journals
  • PhD
  • Particular strength in social and political theory
  • Competence in quantitative data analysis
  • Knowledge of Norwegian
  • Track-record of proposal writing and fund raising for research
  • Citizen of, or work permit in, a country in the EU/EEA area
  • A background in an energy-related field

The salary will depend on the qualifications of the new employee and will be according to Norwegian government regulations. The job is tough, but exciting and highly flexible.
