Intensive Russian Summer
- Get serious, learn Russian -

Intensive Russian Summer packs 125 contact hours into just five weeks, making it one of the most intensive programs available on any continent. It is designed to be flexible enough to accommodate intermediate, advanced, or heritage speakers of Russian. The program is geared towards the TORFL, Russia's official language proficiency test for entry to university study, teaching, and even citizenship. The cost of taking the test are included in this program.

Prerequisites: Applicants must have completed at least four semesters of college-level Russian or semesters abroad in the FSU. Student who have completed at least one semester of college-level Russian may apply for this program as part of a summer-long Russian Studies Summer

Curriculum: Students will spend 15 academic hours per week in small group study (3-5 students) and 10 academic hours per week in individual (or paired) tutoring. Advanced students may use tutoring hours to focus on specialized language (business, technical) or individualized projects in linguistics, literature or translation. In addition to these 125 contact hours (group + tutoring), students will spend 10 academic hours per week completing assigned reading or translation projects.

NOTE: We highly recommend that students take Russian Studies Summer I during the five-week session before this program. While Summer Intensive with TORFL is designed to be a highly intensive and stand-alone course, adding an extra session can greatly bolster the progress you can make in Russia, give more time to travel and meet people, and improve your final TORFL score! Ask us as well about traveling after the semester is over!
