The School of Russian & Asian Studies (SRAS), an organization dedicated to educational opportunities offered by Russia and Eurasia, would like to announce application deadlines for the following spring programs abroad:


Home and Abroad Scholars (Nov 1 - May 17; Program Abroad Begins: Feb 5; Apply by Oct 1). Receive $5000-10,000 to study Russian and build professional skills at home and abroad! A range of locations and target fields are available.

Russia and the Environment (Feb 5- May 25, 2018; Apply by Oct 15). Based in Irkutsk, Russia, this program looks at environmenal problems and solutions. Russia has a unique environmental history and plays a vital role in global environmental efforts today. 

Security and Society (Feb 26 – June 29; Apply by Oct 31). Hosted in Warsaw, Poland, this wide-ranging course allows students to choose from courses in security studies, cybersecurity, health policy, Jewish studies, new media, criminal justice, and more. Note that this link will take you to a new site dedicated to this program.

Policy and Conflict in the Post-Soviet Space (Feb 2 – May 18; Apply by Oct 15). Students will visit Ukraine, Moldova, Georgia, and Russia and will discuss the conflicts in these states, both past and present, with local students, teachers, and experts.

Russian Studies Abroad (Feb 5 - May 25 / Feb 7 - May 28; Apply by Oct 15). Choose either St. Petersburg or Mosocw and study language, history, politics, economics, and/or culture.

Russian as a Second Language (Feb 5 - May 25; Apply by Oct 15). This is an intensive Russian language program available in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Irkutsk, Vladivostok, Kiev, or Bishkek.

Central Asian Studies (Jan 29 – May 18; Apply by Oct 15). Based in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan and including regional travel to several other Central Asian Program, this course introduces students to local cultures, geopolitics, and conflict resolution.

The Russian Far East ( Feb 5 – May 25; Apply by Oct 15). Based in Vladivostok, Russia, the program looks like Russia's history and current diplomatic and economic relations with Japan, China, North Korea, and South Korea. 

Diplomacy and International Relations at MGIMO (Feb 5 - June 15; Apply by Oct 15). Enroll for regular semester classes conducted in English or Russian and attended by the diverse student population of MGIMO, Russia's premier institution for politics and international relations.

Internships (Feb 5 - May 25; Apply by Oct 15). Available in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Bishkek, Vladivostok, Warsaw, Irkutsk, and Kiev. Gain professional experience in translation, journalism or in NGOs, think tanks, museums, businesses, theatres, and more.

FUNDING: Challenge Grants (Apply with any of the above programs). Meet the challenge, gain the grant!

ELIGIBILITY: Applicants need not be currently enrolled in a university program. No prior knowledge of Russian (or other foreign language) required for any program.
