American Cooking on Ukrainian TV Michael Denner Cooks in Russian!
SRAS was recently visited in Russia and Ukraine by our long-time friend and colleague Dr. Michael Denner, Associate Professor of Russian Studies at Stetson University, Florida, and the editor of Tolstoy Studies Journal.
Dr. Denner joined our students on several of our Moscow-based events and excursions and on a trip to Vladimir and Suzdal to see a bit of "real Russia" outside of major cities. Dr. Denner contributed extra energy, knowledge, and insight to our students' experiences and we are very glad that he could join us during his time abroad!
In addition, Dr. Denner also traveled to Kiev. When our partners there at NovaMova School, who help us run our Policy and Conflict in the Post-Soviet Space and Eurasian Culinary Studies programs heard that an American professor as passionate about the culinary arts as he is about Russian language and culture was going to be in town, they secured him an invitation to appear on Ukrainian TV. The result was the following four programs in which Dr. Denner describes, in Russian, how to prepare and enjoy various American delicacies.
Dr. Denner, thanks for visiting us abroad! We hope that you enjoyed the adventure of this summer as much as we did!
