 |  Olga Dmitraschenko is a sixteen-year-old native Muscovite and incoming freshman to Moscow State University, one of Russia's most respected educational institutions. She served an internship with SRAS during the summer of 2006 as a research assistant on issues of popular culture. We were impressed with her intelligence, creativity, and professionalism and asked her to stay on with the company part-time as a contributing writer on issues of language and culture. In that capacity, she will be the primary author of the following project, which we developed specifically for her and even named after her.
"Olga's Blog" will be updated two to three times per month with a new interactive Russian lesson. These lessons will be based on issues and events in today's Russian life and written in the language of today's young, well-educated Muscovites. The native Russian text has been glossed by the School of Russian and Asian Studies for vocabulary, cultural implications, and grammar. The texts have also been specifically designed to include some of today’s youth slang, which is always clearly annotated as slang. As you read the text, place your cursor over the symbols for more information about the word that precedes them. In some cases (as indicated), clicking on the symbol ( for vocabulary,  for grammar) will bring up a pop-up screen with still more information.
