 SRAS Feature Study Abroad programs (FSA) are full study abroad programs, with curricula and program length designed to facilitate credit transfer to your home institution. FSA programs include 1) a core curriculum of language training, 2) optional customization features and 3) a study component specific to each university or city.
1) Core curriculum
All SRAS FSA programs include a core curriculum of intensive Russian language training. This core is designed to present topics for discussion, reading, and writing which focus on daily life, current events in Russia, etiquette, and cultural studies. The percentages indicated show the relative emphasis in each area, which may vary depending on the strengths and weaknesses of each student or group. 2) Customize your program!  Note: The level designations below indicate the minimum level of Russian fluency required for each feature course. Courses designated all levels have at least one session (often in summer) conducted in English. Each session covers the same material, however, regardless of the language requirement. Program Costs

 Language of instruction: Unless otherwise noted, feature components are taught in Russian. Exact courses are confirmed each semester and students will join courses with Russian students and additionally have one-on-one time each week with the instructor to review the material covered. Where noted, these courses may be offered in English during the summer session.
Prerequisites: Overall GPA of 2.5/4.0 and 3.0/4.0 in related courses. Two years of university level Russian language study or equivalent is required for all advanced level programs. Applicants should be able to score an 80 or better on a TORFL test (you can take a sample test under "Testing" on the main menu.
Credits: Summer courses yield up to 10 credits and semester courses, up to 20. See individual program for details. Coursework and evaluation: Quizzes, mid-term and/or final papers are assigned. Class attendance and participation are a significant component of the final grade. Final grades are recieved in the form of an official transcript from the host university. Class Size: Class size can range from 2 to 12, but is usually 4-6. You will find that the majority of your classmates are from Europe, the USA, Canada, Australia, and Asia. Feature component is held during the academic year with Russian students (larger class size for lectures) and in some summer sessions limited to SRAS participants only.
Program objectives: FSA provides at its core rapid improvement in grammar and conversation skills and expansion of working vocabulary. In addition, the feature component allows students to gain in-depth knowledge in another subject area. FSA programs are often customized to even further meet the credit distribution needs of students.
Travel & Cultural program: FSA programs include a comprehensive cultural program as well as five days of travel outside of your base city. Depending on location and program, travel may be split into two shorter weekend trips.
